Health Commissioner Extends Code Red Extreme Heat Alert through Monday

BALTIMORE, MD (July 18, 2019) With the heat index continuing to reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the Baltimore region, Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Letitia Dzirasa has extended the previously announced Code Red Extreme Heat Alert through Monday, July 22nd.

Health Commissioner Declares Code Red Extreme Heat Alert for Tuesday through Sunday

BALTIMORE, MD (July 15, 2019) With another heat wave brewing across the Baltimore region this week, and with the heat index forecasted to reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit for several days, Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Letitia Dzirasa has issued a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert for tomorrow, Tuesday, July 16th through Sunday, July 21st.   The heat index is a measure of air temperature and relative humidity and indicates how hot it feels to the human body. 

Raccoon Picked up by Animal Control Tests Positive for Rabies

BALTIMORE, MD (July 11, 2019) 

The Baltimore City Health Department Office of Animal Control picked up a raccoon from Schenley Road in the Roland Park neighborhood on July 9th that has tested positive for rabies. Anyone who came into contact with a raccoon near this location recently should contact the Office of Acute Communicable Disease at 410-396-4436 during business hours or 410-396-3100 afterhours.

BALTIMORE, MD (July 2, 2019) With a forecasted heat wave to grip the Baltimore region this week, and a heat index expected to reach 97 degrees Fahrenheit or higher for several days, Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Letitia Dzirasa has issued a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert for tomorrow, Wednesday, July 3rd through Saturday, July 6th.   The heat index is a measure of air temperature and relative humidity and indicates how hot it feels to the human body.

BALTIMORE, MD (June 28, 2019) Due to prolonged heat in the Baltimore region and a heat index expected to reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit Saturday, Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Letitia Dzirasa has issued a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert for tomorrow, Saturday, June 29.  The heat index is a measure of air temperature and relative humidity and indicates how hot it feels to the human body.  This is Baltimore City’s first Code Red Extreme Heat Alert of the season.
