"Health Commissioner Extends Code Blue In Baltimore Through Friday"

With forecasts calling for four to eight inches of snow from Monday evening to midday Tuesday, and temperatures and wind chills predicted to be below zero during the rest of the week, Baltimore City Health Commissioner Leana Wen, M.D. has ordered the Code Blue extended through Friday, February 20.  An extended Code Blue advisory had previously been in place from February 12 – 16. This is the seventh Code Blue alert for Baltimore this winter, and the city has experienced six cold weather related deaths.

Health Commissioner Declares First Code Blue Extreme Cold Alert of the Season

BALTIMORE, MD (December 22, 2022)— Temperatures are predicted to fall rapidly tomorrow mid-morning, accompanied by high winds. With windchills expected to fall below 0˚F through this weekend, Health Commissioner Letitia Dzirasa today issued a Code Blue Extreme Cold declaration for Baltimore City beginning Friday morning, December 23 through Monday morning, December 26.  This is the first Code Blue Extreme Cold Alert for Baltimore City this season.
