The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation is giving the United Way of Central Maryland a $480,000 grant that will connect two local helplines that provide information and referrals to Baltimore's elderly.
The 2-1-1 Maryland United Way Helpline and the Baltimore City Health Department's Maryland Access Point have formed a partnership to merge the two services. The grant will help the organizations cover the costs associated with the new technology and processes that will be integrated into both programs.
Baltimore City Health Commissioner, Dr. Leana Wen, said the partnership with 2-1-1 will help the Health Department connect older adults with "evidence-based and person-centered services."
