Gun Violence Reduction and Resolution: A Battle for CDC and the Medical Society (Christian Post)
Gun violence has been a continuous pressing issue and recurring crimes connected to such creates greater rage among Americans. On the other hand, public health officers' attention has been continuously engaged as they fail to address this issue at hand. But this story changes as the public health officers finally take notice on this matter.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has called for help to fund their firearms injury prevention program. Unfortunately, congress brushed this plea for funding, and even if there were succeeding bills and amendments made by the National Institute of Health, the funding became a challenge as well.
Though the fight seems to be dwindling down on the side of the CDC, CDC director Thomas Frieden just couldn't give up the fight. And with the voice and help of the medical community supporting CDC on their venture, CDC director Thomas Frieden has been encouraged to not withdraw. Among the many organizations supporting CDCs act are the American Medical Association, National Physicians Alliance, Doctors for America and American Public Health Association who recognizes and identifies this matter at hand as a public health crisis.
